Colin’s Barn

This is a Beautiful place to visit; Built originally as a Hay store in the 1980’s this atmospheric hideaway is stunningly crafted with love and is still one of my favourite places I’ve seen. Constructed by hand using dry stone wall techniques the structure grew to accommodate the needs of the farmer; For instance bird houses were erected and a second floor was constructed so the farmer had somewhere to sleep during lambing season.

As it grew it did so with more elements of the owners personality; stained glass windows, hand made plaster, Baskets, stairs and tiles. After 11 years in the making it was abandoned in 2000 by the owner; now on private land not accessible to the public this quirky hermitage is now just left to decay.
