RAF Tatenhil was built in 1941 its was part of an operational training group connected to RAF Lichfield; training of flying bombers at night, a few years later its was used as an advance flying command.
In 1944 when the Raf Fauld disaster struck tatenhill was used by the school of explosives and the advanced flying unit AFU moved to RAF seighford.
